Importance of Ethics in Business
In today’s business life, it must be admitted there are still many businesses that have not prioritizing ethical values in every business activity. Most of their activities oriented to obey the new legal rules that have a clear and binding sanctions, compared with business ethics that are considered as ‘abstract’ and there is no clear standard as a measure that the business is ethical or not. In addition, there is still a myth that the business does not need to discuss ethics because people are seeing business and ethics as two separate things that are difficult to reconcile. Business people are still stuck with the purpose of pursuing business sheer profit. It is coupled with the economic principle that says that someone in the business activities must obtain the maximum benefit by reducing costs to a minimum.
For that, an ethics in business should be standard in the management of the company. This is to maintain a balance between companies, consumers and the environment. There are many components that are formulated in ethics. It is generally associated with fair treatment of employees of the company; supervise the quality of products and services, and maintenance of the environment at the production site. Some of these components must be considered so that no one harmed. The government also should establish an independent institution for no intervention to supervise the management of a business.
